AR/VR Room Visualization for Ecommerce

Objective
Deliver a production-ready solution allowing users to scan their rooms using mobile devices, digitally remove existing furniture, and populate the space with realistic, interactive 3D models from the brand's furniture catalog using AR and VR.
Challenges
The client previously faced more than 18 months of delays due to challenges implementing a high-quality AR/VR visualization experience. Key blockers included limited internal CV expertise and poor rendering quality from user-supplied room images.
Solution:
- Quest AI was engaged through our a partner to lead the Computer Vision and image pipeline portion of the project
- Deployed a senior engineer with Meta Quest expertise alongside a CV specialist focused on photorealism and environmental understanding
- Developed a robust Azure-based pipeline to segment and digitally remove furniture, inpaint missing regions, and reconstruct realistic, furniture-free room backdrops
- Implemented real-time scaling and lighting adaptation for inserted branded furnishings in AR and VR
